Bergamo Airport was opened in 1937, as a military airport. It was later converted for civilian use and opened to commercial flights in the 1950s.

 

The airport is located about 4 km southeast of Bergamo city center, and about 45 km northeast of Milan.

 

Bergamo Airport is the third busiest airport in Italy, after Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa airports. In 2019, the airport handled over 13 million passengers.

 

The airport has a single runway, which is 2,800 meters long and 45 meters wide. It is capable of handling large aircraft such as the Boeing 747.

 

Different companies offer direct coach services to Milan’s center. Buses take about 45-50 minutes to cover the distance.
