The road is really narrow, with no margins for error!

You can reach Anacapri from Capri either by bus, or by taxi.

Buses are cheaper but small and usually crowded.

Taxis are more expensive but more fun!

All taxis are open-air and we suggest you sit to the right to enjoy and capture the view!

This is Piazza dela Vittoria, the place where the bus or taxi will drop you.

Just pay attention to the cars and buses!

Accidents are prone to happen!

Just walk across Piazza dela Vittoria towards Via Giuseppe Orlandi to start your exploration! That’s the main area you will want to walk, even if you have limited time to visit Anacapri. It’s the main pedestrian street filled with shops, cafes, and local charm.

The big lemons are the main attraction!

You will find them served in many forms.

We tried them as a “Lemon Spritz”, an alcoholic cocktail, that cost it us 15 euros served at a restaurant.

As we keep on walking Via Giuseppe Orlandi, let’s have a small glimpse into Anacapri's history. Anacapri's history dates back to ancient times, with traces of Roman, Byzantine, and Medieval influences still evident today. The village's name itself, "Anacapri," comes from the Greek prefix "ana," meaning "up" or "above," highlighting its elevated position on the island. Throughout the centuries, Anacapri has retained its authentic charm, making it a perfect destination for history enthusiasts and cultural explorers.

Piazza Edwin Cerio could signal the end of you city center tour. You can now turn left to the main road, Viale T. De Tommaso and head to Via Capodimonte.

To start your walk at Via Capodimonte head back to the main square, Piazza dela Vittoria and then walk up and left to the stairs. It’s less than a kilometer long, if you want to walk to Villa San Michele.

You should come earlier in the day, if you want to find all these shops open. On the other hand, an evening walk is less crowded and will let you enjoy the view at the end of the path undistracted!

Via Axel Munthe in Anacapri, is a charming road that leads to the majestic Villa San Michele! Perched high above the shimmering Bay of Naples on the Isle of Capri, this enchanting villa is a haven of tranquility and beauty, filled with history and stunning views.

Villa San Michele.

Built by Dr. Axel Munthe, a Swedish physician, the villa is a captivating blend of classical antiquities and Mediterranean charm. Wander through its enchanting gardens adorned with ancient relics, sculptures, and fragrant blooms. The pergola walk offers breathtaking vistas of the azure sea and lush landscapes, perfect for an inspiring stroll.

The gardens of Villa San Michele are a highlight, showcasing a myriad of plants from all over the world. Exotic flowers, climbing vines, and towering cypresses create a serene atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to relax and soak in the beauty of nature.

Inside the villa, the house museum displays Munthe's eclectic collection of artifacts, including Roman, Etruscan, and Egyptian treasures. Each room is a treasure trove of history, telling the story of Munthe's life and his passion for art and culture.

The chapel, nestled within the villa's grounds, is a place of quiet reflection. Its simple yet elegant design complements the serene ambiance of the villa, offering a moment of peace and contemplation.

That’s the path to a great view! What we can admire, is the panoramic view of Capri!

To our left what we see is Punta Campanella, a legendary coastal nature preserve, which signals the area of Amalfi coast.

There’s a direct boat to Costiera Amalfitana from Marina Grande at Capri.

But don’t rush to stop your tour here! There more to see, a unique pathway!

Rampa Capodimonte is a charming, stone-paved path. Flanked by traditional whitewashed buildings and lush greenery, this walk offers a glimpse into the authentic, serene life of the island.

Historically, this pathway served as one of the main routes connecting different parts of the island. Its cobblestones have been worn smooth by centuries of footsteps, adding a touch of nostalgia and history to your journey.
