A hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains, Peles Castle is located in Sinaia, Romania, about 140 km away from Bucharest. This fairy-tale castle has become a symbol of Romanian royalty and is surrounded by lush greenery, offering breathtaking views of nature and tranquillity.

The story begins with the first King of Romania, Carol I of Hohenzollern – Sigmaringen, who laid the foundation stones of Peles Castle. By 1883, it had transformed into the royal summer residence, a haven for the elite. A significant turning point occurred between 1890 and 1914 under the meticulous supervision of the Czech architect Karel Liman, the mastermind behind Peles Castle's evolution.
In its inaugural shape in 1883, both the exterior and interior embraced the dominating German Neo-Renaissance style, with a sprinkle of exceptions in the form of neo-Ottoman and neo-Rococo elements. However, the castle underwent a metamorphosis during its second stage of development (1890-1914). Under Liman's artistic guidance, fundamental changes were implemented, altering volumes, facades, and interiors.

Don't miss the exceptional weaponry collection and the enchanting Turkish Parlor, adorned with fine Oriental rugs and lavish decorations.
How To Get There
Planning your visit to Peles Castle is
a breeze. You can easily reach Sinaia by car or take a train from Bucharest's
North Station. The journey offers scenic views and adds to the overall
experience.
Peleș National Museum does not have its own parking for visitors. Consider joining a daily excursion pack from Bucharest that covers Peles Castle and the city of Bran. These packs last about 12 hours, offering a guided tour and convenient bus transfers, but keep in mind that the castle tickets are not included.
Ticket Cost
Ticket prices for visiting Peles
Castle vary depending on the type of tour you choose. For a standard visit,
adult tickets range from 30 lei to 50 lei, while children, students, and
seniors enjoy discounted rates.
Please remember that you can either
pay in Romanian lei or by card.
It's advisable to book your tickets in
advance, especially during peak season, to ensure entry.
The castle authorities clearly state
that the tickets are to be purchased only from Peles and Pelisor castles ticket
desks or online from https://bilete.peles.ro
Any other tickets purchased online or from unauthorized sources are not valid.
Visiting Hours
Peles Castle warmly welcomes visitors
from TWednesday to Sunday. Opening hours vary seasonally, so make sure to check
the official website or call ahead before planning your visit.
They usually range from 09:15 or 10:00
in the morning, untill 17:00 in the evening.

Visit Bran Castle

visiting the legendary Bran Castle, famously known as 'Dracula's Castle.' Just

Pelisor Castle
When you're checking out the magic of Peles Castle, make sure to wander over to its charming sibling, Pelisor Castle. Just a short stroll away, Pelisor has its unique vibe and history. Unlike Peles, it's a smaller, Art Nouveau-style gem that used to be home to King Ferdinand and Queen Marie of Romania. You will have to purchase a separate ticket for Pelisor Castle, with a price of 30 lei for adults. The opening hours though, are the same with Peles Castle.
Built between 1899 and 1902, Pelisor is a key player in Romania's royal heritage. It was the pad for the royal heirs – Prince Ferdinand and Princess Marie, part of King Carol I's grand vision for the Peles River's valley.
Unlike the serious vibe of Peles, Pelisor has its flair. While the outside shows off German Neo-Renaissance style, the inside is a breath of fresh, modern air. The beautifully decorated rooms and cosy atmosphere spill the tea on Romania's royal past, showcasing the changing trends and vibes of the time.
