Lascaris War Rooms are a series of underground tunnels and rooms nestled within
the heart of Valletta, the capital city of Malta, essentially below the
Saluting Battery. This Mediterranean island nation boasts a rich history and is

in 1940 and completed the expansion 3 years later. Around 1.000 worked in the
complex at that time.

Following

the post-war era, the complex continued to serve as a vital strategic command
center, playing a crucial role during the Cold War and other conflicts. It was
actually the Mediterranean Fleet HQ and soon, in 1967, NATO used it as an important
Communication Centre.
