Location and Brief Info
Drogarati Cave is
located near the village of Chaliotata, about 26 km from Argostoli. The cave
was discovered 300 years ago and is estimated to be around 150 million years
old. It is one of the most impressive caves in Greece, with stunning
stalactites and stalagmites. It first opened to the public in 1963.
Getting There from Argostoli Town
The easiest way to get to Drogarati Cave is by car or taxi. It takes about 40 minutes to drive from Argostoli town. There is also a bus that runs from the town to Sami, which stops near the cave.
Entrance Fee and Visiting Hours
To explore the
wonders of Drogarati Cave, there is an affordable entrance fee. The ticket
grants you access to this underground paradise, and visiting hours typically
run from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. It is open
all week long. There’s a 10 euros combo ticket if you also want to visit the
nearby Melissani Cave Lake.
Safety Measures
The cave is safe to visit, but visitors should wear comfortable shoes as there are a number of cement stairs to climb. The stairs can be slippery, so it's important to take your time and watch your step. Just take into consideration that you will have to climb the stairs back up again!
Temperature Inside
As you venture
deeper into the cave, you'll be greeted by a pleasantly cool and refreshing
